With Mirzapur, the popular Prime Video series, being adapted into a film, fans are excited for a glimpse of their favourite stars on the big screen. Ali Fazal, popularly known for playing the role of Guddu Bhaiya in the gangster series, spoke about the possible expansion of his character on celluloid.
While talking to India Today Digital, Fazal said, “I am truly excited about the film, as it marks a first for us. Interestingly, around the same time, one of the biggest Hollywood series, Peaky Blinders, also announced plans to adapt their show into a film. In terms of my character, I’m not entirely sure how much more can be explored, given that many facets have already been expanded on.”
The actor also discussed how it would be a challenge for the makers to fit his larger-than-life character on the big screen. “The goal now is to distil all the depth from the three seasons into a concise one- or two-hour cinematic experience, which is quite a challenge. It all depends on how the story unfolds in this new format,” said Fazal.
Here is the announcement video:
The film will delve deeper into the world of Mirzapur, with its rowdy gangsters returning to portray their iconic characters in a grand, larger-than-life theatrical experience.
Mirzapur: The Film is backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. The film is created by Puneet Krishna and will be directed by Gurmmeet Singh.
